Belles & Whistles

March 8, 2018

The past couple of weeks in Bali have been busy, and now we're busy getting organized to leave! On Saturday we are flying to England to spend some time with Justin’s family, before heading back to France to get started on the remodeling of our new house. We’re experiencing a strange combination of sadness to be leaving Bali, and excitement for what’s ahead in France. Rosie is thrilled about the upcoming flights, as always. Whats new is that she has started negotiating which soft toys she's allowed to bring on board. She is proposing this bunny which was given to her on her birthday... Wish us luck!

--- & WHISTLES ---

I am a huge fan of Athena Calderone's blog EyeSwoon, and she recently wrote this article about the intensive process involved in creating her first cookbook, Cook Beautiful. I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy of the book, and I’ve thoroughly enjoying pouring through it’s artful pages.

Justin came across this poem about old age and it has been pulling on my heart strings. It’s served as a good reminder to slow down and remember what our elders have lived through, and how much they have to teach us.

One of my 2018 resolutions was to learn to ride a scooter in Bali, and I’m pleased to report that I’ve finally taken the plunge. I wouldn't go so far as to say I've taken to scooter-driving like a duck to water, but I am managing the short ride from our villa to the gym, and although it’s slow progress it still feels liberating!

I read about this coconut oil pulling rinse on Atelier Dore and am intrigued to try it!

A Cup of Jo profiled this lovely children’s book, Today I Feel... by Madalena Moniz, a sort of A-Z of emotions, all beautifully illustrated. Rosie learnt about the concept of loneliness from one of her favorite books, Mr. Tiger Goes Wild by Peter Brown, and I’m interested to explore more feelings with her, like patience (!) and jealously. I'll let you know how it goes...

How was your week? Is there anything you’d like to share? As always, I’d love to hear, and I hope you have a lovely weekend ahead. X
