So many new cafes and restaurants have popped up in Bali over the past year, and we’ve been having lots of fun discovering them!
Last year I shared My Guide to Bali, a round up of my all-time favorite restaurants and things to do. But given how many new places we've enjoyed recently, I thought I'd share a list of our latest favorites.

Relaxed beach vibes: La Brisa
This new beach club in Echo Beach has a rustic pirate meets shipwreck theme, and is a great place to while away an afternoon. Grab one of their big, cosy, cushion-strewn daybeds, and enjoy the dappled sunshine under the coconut trees. The food is great; we shared salt cod croquettes, snapper ceviche, and pork belly buns, among other tasty bites. Plus there’s an awesome play ground for kids, a swimming pool, and of course the sandy beach out front.
An incredible Negroni: Salazon
Bali is a paradise for cocktail lovers, and we’re always on the look out for fresh inspiration. We were pretty excited to discover Salazon, an impressive new restaurant that also happens to have a legendary mixologist whose coffee-wood smoke-infused Negroni elevates the classic drink to new heights. He’s also loads of fun, and loves to talk cocktails with anyone else who enjoys geeking out on mixology!
High-end sushi: Indigo
This sushi restaurant blends French and Japanese cuisines into a creative fusion with elegant dishes like scallop sushimi with freshly shaved black truffle, and foie gras topped sushi. The sake based cocktails are great too, with one infused with wasabi for a bit of extra punch.
Creative plant-based eats: Peloton Supershop
As part of our 2018 resolutions we’re trying to incorporate more vegetables into our diet, so we’ve been embracing Bali’s vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Peloton has actually been open in Bali for around two years, but it's new to me. I had the most delicious breakfast saladhere, loaded with crunchy seeds and sauerkraut, and I'm looking forward to going back at trying out their lunch menu. Their restaurant also doubles as a bicycle shop, so it's vibrant and fun all day long.
Beautiful homewares: Casa Mayor
My brother discovered this store when he came to visit us in Bali, and we’ve been back many times since. They have a carefully selected range of unique, handcrafted homewares. Their ceramic pieces are particularly lovely, and make gorgeous gifts.
Sunset drinks: Tugu Hotel Rooftop
You'd never know this bar was here. You have to walk through the hotel (which is built in a lovely traditional Indonesian juglo style) and up a few flights of stairs until you reach the roof. Then you're surrounded by uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean, and colorful bar with boho-chic meets Balinese decor. It's the perfect spot to watch surfers catch waves, while sipping drinks as the sun sets. And importantly, the cocktails are great. Our favorite was the 'Timur' with tequila, mango juice, smoked paprika, beetroot shrub, lime, and cilantro.
